An extensive 60-day cruise circling the Land Down Under was terminated days after the fatal incident of an senior woman who was left behind by the cruise liner on a remote island.

The elderly woman had been walking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the excursion for a rest. The vessel departed without her and returned after some time after the ship staff became aware the passenger was not present.

A large-scale hunt located her person the following day.

Authorities are looking into the tragedy, alongside police and the medical examiner.

The CEO of the voyage organizer stated that guests and staff on the ship were informed that the rest of the voyage had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and prior technical problems".

In a statement, he mentioned that guests would be issued a full refund, and said the company was working "to coordinate the homeward trips of the individuals via chartered flights".

Authorities also released an updated announcement, and said they had "delivered a order to the Master" banning any additional guests from boarding the vessel.

The representative said that they would attend the liner in the port city upon its arrival.

The ship originally sailed from the Australian port on 24 October, and was merely two days into the expedition at the time of the senior passenger's demise. The remote island was the first stop on the voyage.

Passengers on board - who typically pay substantial amounts of currency to take part in the expedition - were taken there for a day trip with the possibility of trekking or underwater exploration.

The daughter of the deceased woman said that her family was "stunned and distressed that the vessel left the island after an organised excursion without my parent".

In her statement, she portrayed her parent as an "active elderly person" who was a participant of a walking organization.

"From the little information we have been informed, it seems that there was a failure of responsibility and common sense," she stated.

She added that she hoped the inquiry would be able to pinpoint what "the organization should have done that might have saved Mum's being".

"We understand from the investigators that it was a extremely warm period, and mother became unwell on the mountain ascent," she stated.
